Slayers — Lina Inverse, a wandering sorceress and bandit-killer, joins forces with roving swordsman Gourry Gabriev in what's supposed to be a quick union of convenience. Instead, an artifact Lina "liberated" from a gang of thieves turns out to be the key to the resurrection of the demon lord Shabranigdo. Urged on by the mysterious Red Priest Rezo, the pair has no choice but to fight the dark lord and his servants, accumulating new allies and enemies along the way. Stars Megumi Hayashibara as the voice of Lina Inverse. (FUNimation—Rated 13+)
The Story of Saiunkoku – Saiunkoku is a country with eight powerful houses governed by one emperor. However, the new leader Ryuuki Shi cares not for his new role and is rumored to spend his days chasing after noblemen in his court. Enter Shuurei Hong, a princess whose family has fallen upon hard times. Her dreams of becoming a government official are unattainable since she is a woman, but a twist of fate gives her the chance of a lifetime. Paradise Kiss – Yukari lives the typical high school life, continually stressed by her mother’s desperate desire for her to succeed as a student. One day, she meets a group of fashion design students by the name of “Paradise Kiss” and is scouted to be a model for the Yazawa School of Design fashion show. Yukari is emotionally lost at first, but as time goes by, she becomes influenced by their determination to pursue their dreams. X (TV) -- It's the year of destiny and 15 year old Kamui Shiro, a powerful psychic, has returned to Toyko after a 6 year absence. He returns to protect his childhood friends, Fuuma and Kotori. But destiny and fate are haunting Kamui and pulling in himself and his loved ones. It is his destiny to decide the fate of the world and mankind, no matter if he wants the role or not. Magic Knight Rayearth – Three junior high school girls are brought together by fate when they hear a voice asking them to save the world. The land that calls them is named Cephiro and the voice belongs to Princess Emeraude. She stands as the Pillar whose will maintains the peace of this magical world where belief is power. But the peace in Cephiro is now threatened as Princess Emeraude is imprisoned and monsters begin to invade. With her last bit of strength, the princess summons forth the three girls who must fulfill their destiny to become the Magic Knights in the hopes of saving her world. (Media Blasters—Rated 13+)
xxxHolic The Movie: A Midsummer Night’s Dream — Yuuko receives a request from a woman to help her back into her mansion which for some reason does not allow her to enter. Yuuko says since Watanuki was the one who brought the client to her, Watanuki should be the one to grant her wish, and therefore brought along. Doumeki is also brought along to help and Yuuko attends not only to grant her client's wish but also because she is invited to the mansion where many famous collectors were also invited with the same letter. Inside the mansion are strange rooms and mysterious letters telling its guests what do to in place of a host. Though the collectors think up the theory of a mysterious auction being held like in an urban legend, it becomes apparent that something more sinister and mysterious going on. One after another, each collector disappears and a number of other strange occurrences happen during the night. The real reasons behind the invitations must be discovered in order for Yuuko and company to get to the bottom of this mystery. Finalist for the Annecy International Movie Festival in 2006. Robotech — Made in America from three unrelated anime. The first part tells of humanity's first contact that ends in a war. Rick Hunter is a pilot who gets dragged along with the SDF-1 and joins with them to stop the invaders. Lyn Minmei is a singer who Rick rescues and falls for. Together they try to save the Earth and end the war without fighting, but with love. The second part deals with children of the first, the rebuilding complete; we send the SDF-3 to attack the masters. While it travels out in hyperspace to their worlds, the masters crawl into our solar system. The Earth must fight a devesting second war for a secret prize. Someone else wants the prize, the Invid. The third part gives us a world controlled by the Invid. The SDF-3 sends a probing force that is destroyed upon exiting hyperspace. A single survivor remains, a man taught to fight, with the will to free Earth. He forms a resistance with the goal of destroying the Invid hive at Reflux Point, aka New York. (Geneon—Rated 12+)
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor — Justy Tylor has no training, no skill, no initiative, or leadership qualities; in fact, he has nothing going for him except one crucial thing: dumb luck. This is his only saving grace, and it saves him from impossible odds, time and again. By sheer accident, he rescues the General's beloved granddaughters; for which, the General is extremely grateful, and as such, makes this inept recruit a full Captain, but gives him command of the lowliest ship in the fleet, the Soyokaze. This ship has a crew of misfits and mutineers, so the General is not at all worried about Tylor making matters worse. He has killed two birds with one stone: he has given this inept freeloader a 'reward' for saving the granddaughters, and also put a captain in command of a ship and crew he would just as well see engulfed by a black hole. Thus, Tylor begins an adventure that takes him from the lowest and highest positions of authority, and he somehow manages to make things turn out for the best. (The Right Stuf—Rated 13+)
The Legend of Black Heaven – Hard rock saves space?! Life can crush your dreams. Oji is a middle-management drone whose only grip on sanity, in the drudgery of his corporate lifestyle, are the few shreds of hope surrounding his past life as the amazing guitarist of Black Heaven, a heavy metal band that almost made it. In his bleakest moment, the magic of performing is restored to him when a beautiful mysterious woman informs him that only his special sound can save the universe from an evil alien invasion. Haibane-Renmei – In a long-forgotten walled town, humans coexist with the Haibane, angelic-like beings of unknown origin. Rakka becomes the newest Haibane, after she awakens from a strange dream and finds herself hatching from a massive cocoon. With no memories of her previous life, Rakka struggles to adjust to her new surroundings, however, burning questions remain in the back of her mind. What are Haibane, and what is their purpose? What lies beyond the huge, forbidden town walls? Thus, Rakka begins her wistful journey of self-discovery and wonderment. (Geneon-Pioneer—Rated 13+)
Martian Successor Nadesico – The Jovian invaders have destroyed our base on Mars, wiped out our space fleets, and now only one ship stands between Earth and total annihilation! Privately funded by the mysterious Nergal corporation, the High Mobile Battleship Nadesico is the most formidable fighting vehicle ever conceived, but due to a shortage of trained soldiers, the crew is a little unorthodox. Against an assistant cook as a pilot, a General’s daughter in command, and the largest contingent of geeks and misfits ever sent into orbit, the poor Jovian’s won’t stand a chance! Get ready for the wildest space adventure ever! (ADV—Rated 12+)
Azumanga Daioh — In Yukari-sensei’s English class, every day is an adventure. First off, there’s the teacher herself. A bit of an airhead, she may have graduated from high school, but she sure hasn’t left. And with the arrival of not one, but two transfer students—one ten-year-old prodigy and one space cadet—it’s going to be an interesting year. Between handling enormous assignments, dodging murderous volleyballs, and enduring endless rivalries, summer vacation should serve as a welcome break for the weary student—unless your teachers come with you!
